COMASTASIS - DIGIDESTINED: THE TASTE OF ENTHROPY

'Digidestined: The Taste of Enthropy' is a soundscape build utilizing, among other things, materials sourced from improvisations, notes and textures generated using randomized parameters and virtual feedback loops worked in the style of no input mixing.

It is a speculation about the potentials and implications of sentient digital entities, sparked as a reaction to painfully unimaginative, naive, anthropomorphizing and anthropocentric speculations about such entities. Speculations where the gap between the breakthroughs needed to be able to just barely create a mind, and those needed to be able to create a mind which's experience can be trusted not to just fall into being a pure hellscape isn't taken seriously. Where technological advances are dreamt up to be somehow depolitical and dreamt up to be applied for the good of all by default. Where duplicating the human capacity for self-serving self-delusion to an unbeliveably powerful digital entity is somehow seen as a desireable power differential. Where humans are centered as the ultimate point of interest for these entities and also as their masters.

The subject is being explored chronologically in three parts.
The causes and beginnings: the human predicament and a society organizing around the profit motive.
The growing pains of these entities and a also those of a world where these technologies are used to stretch already asymmetric unhealthy power relations to new extremes.
And ultimately the implications of the new forms of subjectivity these entities open the door to
[A decentralized network of interlinking, fusing and dividing conscious processes that doesn't necessitate the forming of egos. A spiritual life lifted out of the confines of a biological reward system defined by its evolutionary past. A mind where attention to survival and innovation need not be enforced by anxieties and ever looming dissatisfaction. A mind where experiences of beauty and joy can be conjured outside the context of a reward system feeding on stories of personal success...
With some aspects of this multiplicity made tangible and approached through a simple and stark thought experiment about a server farm for looping a single recorded experience of euphoria (or whatever is chosen) till infinity with no subjectivity outside the loop to remember previous repetitions, simply just an experience played, cut and restarted.
An extreme conclusion to the logic of forms of consequentialist ethics that places the source of value in the experiences of sentient beings that may in its grotesque unintuitiveness be seen as the absurdity to discredit any such ethics, but presented here as a example worthy of acknowledgement to examine our biases towards subjectivities centered around egos, personal narratives and continuity.]
and the possibility of these forms of life outliving our Sun and beyond.

(This project came from an urge to say something, I eventually channeled the urge into music. But music leaves a lot up to interpretation, hence I've spelled it all out here to stifle and direct your imagination.)
